Kids Graduate from Wylie Jr. Citizen’s Police Academy – Video

It’s an intense week of physical activity, high stress scenarios and instruction by some of the top law enforcement officers in the country. Fifteen students from Wylie ISD were accepted into the 2011 Wylie Jr. Citizen’s Police Academy program. This video gives you a brief, but fun taste of what it was like for the 2011 academy graduates from Wylie, Texas. You’ll see some SWAT training, canine demonstrations, scenario situations, physical training, defense tactics, classroom work and the officers who made it happen. Our kids left the week with incredible admiration and respect for all law enforcement officials; especially Officers Taylor and Willis. They already knew Officer McGriggs who has been their home school SRO since moving to Wylie. And Officer Varner is the SRO at Wylie East where Amelia will be going next year.

Plus, as you’ll notice in the video when JJ walked to the gator and began driving, his wearing the “drunk goggles” left him in no condition to drive!

Now I’ve been through the adult version of the academy and the kids have been through the Junior version. I guess there’s only one family member left to do it. We highly recommend this for any students who qualify. And I really recommend the adult version too!

JJ & Amelia, our two new graduates of the Wylie Jr. Citizen's Police Academy.
