Technology, Pulpits & Marriage

With the move into the new Waterbrook building we’ve been talking about what we’re going to preach from – pulpit, table, music stand or simply memorize everything and have no need for notes. (The last one is not a possiblity because I rabbit trail all over the place if I don’t have notes.)  Then, one day, I ran across a new pulpit. I liked it. But, now I don’t just need a new pulpit, I need the iPad to go with it.

Well, it seems we just built a wonderful new building, but no one thought to budget in an iPad for Pastor Jeff. Don’t people understand how much my preaching would improve if I had a fancy-dancy pulpit AND iPad? In fact, I could beam my notes directly to the brain of each person at church and never even have to talk! Alas, it ain’t gonna happen. So we continue our search. Maybe that should be a new reality TV show, “The Search for a New Pulpit!” Then again, maybe not.

However, the whole thing reminds me of a funny email I received from someone that related to the world of Apple devices and the trouble a man can get into trying to keep his family updated. I believe I originally got this from Pete Jung. So any backlash should be directed toward him.

It all began with an iPhone…

March was when my son celebrated his 15th birthday, and I got him an iPhone.

He just loved it. Who wouldn’t?

I celebrated my birthday in July, and my wife made me very happy when she bought me an iPad.

My daughter’s birthday was in August so I got her an iPod Touch.

September came by so for her birthday I got my wife an iRon.

It was around then that the fight started……

What the wife failed to recognize is that the iRon can be integrated into the home network with the iWash, iCook and iClean.

This inevitably activates the iNag reminder service.
